Being someone who needs to be alone does make one value the human sympathy of those close to us and intellectual kinship of like minds more acutely. That's a contradiction I can relate to.
I've always felt that my feeling of being an outsider is actually what has driven my sense of social justice. The less allegiance you have to the institutions of our world, the easier it is to see the damage they do.
The mysterious provokes in me curiosity. I want to understand. That is what has always driven me.
