When all goes to hell

http://concessioncomic.com/

Concession was a good comic.  I looked up to Immelmann for a while.  I'm abit apathetic about Immelmann now--Concession still elicits good thoughts.

For the past few weeks, I just have not cared about posting.  I truly have nothing to say--well nothing that is worth saying and that I can articulate well.  The French word for nothing is "rien".  The latin for it is "nihil".  The French use "of nothing" (de rien) for "you're welcome" (or at least that's what my French teacher told me).

Perhaps I have not cared about posting because I have had nothing to care about lately.  In general, there has been nothing worth lamenting lately--at least, that's how it is in my little neck of the woods.  Or at least, my life has been going so well that it has drowned out the bad.

Something is growing on me, though.  That same loneliness.  AC, BB, and a few others have been greatly awesome the past couple weeks, but I want more (not with them; they're fine as is).  No, I want a man skilled at pleasing.  A scientist worthy of my efforts.  A philosopher to teach me.  A compatriot to enjoy.  A third willing to threesome with me and my nonexistant numero uno.  LOOOOOOL.

Something else is now growing on me.  Why is life good?  I had been assuming that this was a true statement.  But now,  I realize that I was just making the most of the situation.  My life could be so much more.  LOL.  (btw, lol is not el oh el.  It is loll.  Like troll with an L at the beginning instead of tr.)

LIFE, WHY CAN'T YOU BE IDEAL!?!?!?!  AAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRRROOOOOPPPPPHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care.

Are you a dreamer?

We live in an imperfect world.  This is something that we eventually have to accept.  It does not mean that life can be made fair, that we can have a just society.  There is no such thing as natural justice--things happen based on cause and effect.  Granted, there are a lot of causes that bring about lots of effects, are skewed by other causes and effects, and skew other causes and effects.  But as a whole, the universe is rather logical.  So does that really mean we live in an imperfect world?  Yes, while nature is perfect and logical, humans are not.  Humanity corrupts the nature of nature.  It is the one great scourge upon life.

That is where we dreamers come into the picture.  We create.  We identify and seek.  We make things out of what was not there to begin with.  And that is a wonderful occurrence.  If not for dreamers, would life be worth living?  (Yes, yes it would.)

The true question is not 'what do dreamers do?'  It is not 'why would I want to be one?'  It is 'How can I become a dreamer?'  And the answer is that it is generally a natural thing--not something that can be emulated well.  Now, luckily we all have a natural capacity to dream.  But it is up to you to fulfill your dreams.  (BTW, that's how you become a dreamer--you strive for your dreams.)  Tata, I'm off to school for our last week this semester.

I got bored in some class.

Poem #1

She's running, running
Running for the races.
This terrible evil
This immoral mass.
insurmountable, immaculate, unkind.
Man's creation and downfall
Concerned with God, she flies.
Yet running, running.
Running for the races.

Poem #2

Let's Dream.
Let's fly.
Let's imagine.
In that blue, blue sky
We'll sail.
We'll run, we'll jump,
we'll prance the clouds.
As if we have something
SUPERIOR
something grand--so great
that it beats jabberwocky's,
sponges, and purple dogs.
Yet we'll do; we'll know,
We'll BE.
In that land of fluff, that lifetime of limited possibility.
We'll be.

Sore throat, Bad score, Space Jam

Somewhat self-explanatory.

My throat hurts.  Supplemental to that is the fact that my nose is running, and I can't think very well.

We took the ACT a while back.  And I didn't get to finish two of the sections because I paced myself incorrectly.  So...  I got a 32 out of 36--which, admittedly, is pretty good.  But, I wanted a higher score.  If I had finished, I probably would have gotten a 34 or something.  Anyway, I guess that's why the tests are timed--and timed so that people have to answer on a dot.  Snap snap snap.

Anyway, I also watched Space Jam the other day.  It reminded me of when I was a little kid.  I would go to my grandfather's house with my brother.  We would watch Bulls games (basketball), old westerns, and 90s cartoons.  It was a great time.  Sometimes, we would go to McDonald's and eat food.  Usually a Big Mac.  Sometimes a whopper from Burger King.  Either way, it was fun.

Something else about when I was a kid, I was religious.  Yep, I thought that when we prayed, a visage of God would appear in the room to make sure all heads were bowed.  I knew how I was supposed to act.  I knew it, and I knew it well.  I was a very "good" child.  I always followed the rules, and if I didn't--punishment.  In third grade, I cheated on a spelling test, did something else bad, and was "caught" play-fighting on the playground.  The one I remember most is the cheating one.  I got caught because some goody two-shoes told on me after I boasted about my devilry.  Then the teacher called my mom and had a conference about it, and I was so ashamed.  Anyway, this was the first time in my school career that I had gotten into any trouble, and I hated that teacher because of it.  And then...  she died.  Of cancer.  And, I still don't know how to feel about that.  We only had her as our teacher for like 5 weeks; so none of us were terribly attached to her.  But it was even less for me because I didn't like her.  I mean, it's ironic now.  You would think that she, being the righteous punisher would be rewarded.  But no, I--the sinning third grader--was given a second chance for the year.

Anyway, that's all for today (This was one of the posts that got edited AC).  I have to do some homework.  So ciao.

Annoyed, peeved, self-conscious

If people believe that autism is supposed to breed smart/pattern-seeing abilities, then they need to qualify it with the possibility of some of the most hopeless possibilities of delusion possible.  Possificated in a possified possibility.  Type thingy.  For the record, i do not hate autistic people or feel that they are responsible for all of their shortcomings.  In this case, it is probably much more of the way he was raised.

I personally just don't understand why people are gay. Is it a cope out? a perversion? or both? Never the less it is a weakness. It is so wrong that even science has proven it's existence is both a myth and a drag on evolution. Gay's can't reproduce naturally so it is a perversion by definition. Yes we are free so we can do what ever we want. we can jump off a bridge! we can subside to the practice of being gay. but it is so wrong that it is even stupid to science! come on people grow a pair! Just because politics says it's ok dosen't mean you have to support it. Dummies!

and:

Prejudice at gays in the work place is wrong. We are all children of our heavenly Father and deserve love and respect from our fellow man. However as a society we should not support immorality in any form. I think that being gay is immoral and their sin should not be supported.
I don't think that I could make this up.   *Shakes head in shame of man*

In other news, I was basically pick-pocketed today.  The person stole my calculator from my backpack.  But i noticed it happening--though i wasnt sure if someone was just pushing me along down the stairs (they do that sometimes).  So I checked my calculator pocket at the end of the stairs while looking to see who i thought had done it.  He was a classmate of mine.  He never brings a backpack to class and i'm pretty sure that he doesn't give a shit about school.  So i caught up to him, called his name, and asked if he had taken something from my backpack.  He of course said no, and then he began to walk off.  He got about 5 feet before i began following him, and then after following him for about thirty feet, he reached in his clothes (pants? shirt?) and produced the missing calculator.  I took it back.

I was prepared not to tell anyone.  But it's been bothering me all day.  So i told my dad what happened because i wanted to know if he would have done anything differently.  He said he probably would have done the same thing, while making sure to protect himself.  But then he said that he would go with me to school the next day, and we would tell the principle--because he wants to make sure there is some prior basis of theft or other bad stuff in case the guy does it again.  And i dont like it.  Partly because i feel like a rat, no matter how many times i try to tell myself im not and justify.  But also because i dont want to do anything bad to the guy.  I dont hardly want to do anything bad to anybody.  But justice is justice.  I'm going to do my best to keep this from getting him into any immediate trouble when we talk to the principle.  I don't know whether that is right or wrong.  I care a lot though, and it is bugging me.  It doesn't help matters that he is in one of my classes.

Alright, now i have to ask it.  What do you all think of me?  I mean, i think of myself as the best thing since squeezable cheese, but you all probably have much more variegated ideas of me.  And sorry, but i am a teenager.  I have to make my way in the world based on experience, knowledge, and the opinions of people i respect.  (Please put two and two together, there.)  I am wondering more on a personality/character scale than a writer/story-teller scale.  So yeah, what is your opinion of me?

:)

Nuts and Reasons, You absolutely made my day.  Link to The Post that made my day.

In English class, we have been reading The Grapes of Wrath.  It's kind of funny how there is so much religious imagery going on in that book while at the same time there is so much suffering.  The word passion means suffering.  So all the passion of the Christians, yeah, that's suffering.  Not any sort of good quality.  The funny part is that it is so nonsensical.

This train of thought invariably got me thinking of how the current order of society is breeding sheep-mentality into the nation.  There are always outliers that go in the opposite direction, but as a general rule, most of the people are held within the rules.  Whether it be that of a bureaucratic system or that of a communist dictatorship is irrelevant.  The fact of the matter is that we as a generation are being taught to stay within all the lines in school--to search for the answer, not strive for an idea.  I think that this is good for society--at least somewhat.  I really cannot bring myself to hate this in the broad spectrum.  Nor can I bring myself to hate it on the individual spectrum because of those outliers--the loners and the artists.

It is difficult to remark on society.  In fact, ours is so very complex that the line between politics, economics, religion, and social aspects are almost indistinguishable.  It's all just one mass.  Now, again, I do not know if this is good or bad.  And it definitely comes from a narrow scope.  So take it with a grain of salt.

Back to Grapes of Wrath.  I think it is one of the funniest books i have ever read.  Honestly, it is hilarious and depressingly hopeless all at once.  The humor factor is augmented by the fact that I am in a class full of upper-intelligence students who can notice some of the humorous things very easily.

Sorry for not posting so much recently  (haha, as if you all deserve it).  I've been a bit stressed lately.  I have soccer, school, science stuff, society, salliteration, etc to worry about.  So, I haven't been doing that much abstract thinking lately.  But I appreciate my readers.  It seems they have increased in the past week or so.  Huzzah for accomplishments.  And now, I bid you adieu until next time, whoever "you" are.  Have a crimminy jim-jams week.  (I love Spongebob and Courage.)  ;)

God, i hate 20 page lab reports.

FFFFffff!!!!! Literally, that's what i got when i received it back after he graded it.  55%  After the first correction, it was "in the B range".  And i just submitted it a final time; the goal (needed in order to stay in the class) is a 95%.  I hope that i dont make it.  This is extra-curricular, y'all.  I have been asking my parents to let me drop it for a while, but my dad says that i should stick it out.  So yes, i am sticking it out and giving my best, but if thats not enough, who can blame me?

Yata!!  i cant wait until thursday.  We get to see Kakashi go into beast mode.  Hopefully.  Or at least see Gaara fuck up some sand people/plant people.

The tag for this post defines everything.

And it was all yellow.  (Im going to start saying that after many of the things i say from now on.  Either that or "as according to prophecy")

Have a good one.

God, I love her

God... a being whose only definition is that he is beyond man's power to conceive.

When I die, I hope to go to Heaven, whatever the Hell that is.

I think my favorite part of facebook is the quotes section.  I have like 20, 30, 40, or so.  And they are boss.  I have at least one from each of the six religions.  I have Churchill, Rumi, Aristotle, Nietzsch, Trotsky, Tolkein.  And they are so awesome.  So yeah, if i could compile an essay entirely made of quotes and not be called a terrible plagiarist/writer, i would.

Modern life is so thin and shallow and fake.I look forward to when... wild grasses take over. -Hayao Miyazaki

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. -Oscar Wilde

Be sincere; be brief; be seated. -FDR

Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential. -Churchill
It is wiser to find out than to suppose. -Mark Twain

I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door. It opens. I've been knocking from the inside. -Rumi

Damn the (insert your name here). You have no right to act like you're better, to label us and use us... -omg unattributed

If you’re going through hell, keep going -Winston Churchill

He who wonders discovers that this in itself is wonder. -M.C. Escher

Not all those who wander are lost. -J. R. R. Tolkein

Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this? -Theoden, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

This was my choice... Whether by your will or not, there is no ship now that can bear me hence. -Arwen, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I always liked going south, somehow it feels like going downhill. -Treebeard, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Frodo: I can't do this, Sam.
Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for. -The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

You are waiting for a train, a train that will take you far a way. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure... But it doesn't matter because you'll be together. -Inception

I found a loose string dangling from the hem of my existence. When I pulled it, the world around me began to unravel. -William Reschke

Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings. -Anaïs Nin

For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Everyone has the right to believe and accept what he or she wants, but reality doesn’t discriminate. Reality is not different for different people. Not once has reality excused anyone for good intentions ignorance or stubbornness. Reality shows no mercy, accepts no excuses, and issues no pardons. -Gary Ryan Blair

Most people fail at whatever they attempt because of an undecided heart. Should I? Should I not? Go forward? Go back? Success requires the emotional balance of a committed heart. When confronted with a challenge, the committed heart will search for a solution. The undecided heart searches for an escape. A committed heart does not wait for conditions to be exactly right. Why? Because conditions are never exactly right. -Andy Andrews

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not ‘Eureka!’ (I’ve found it!), but ‘That’s funny…' -Isaac Asimov

The world is not the most pleasant place. Eventually your parents leave you and nobody is going to go out of their way to protect you unconditionally. You need to learn to stand up for yourself and what you believe and sometimes, pardon my language, kick some ass. -Queen Elizabeth II

I will insist the Hebrews have [contributed] more to civilize men than any other nation. If I was an atheist and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations ... They are the most glorious nation that ever inhabited this Earth. The Romans and their empire were but a bubble in comparison to the Jews. They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind more and more happily than any other nation, ancient or modern. -John Adams, Second President of the United States

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -The Bible (KJV), John 3:16

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. -The Bible (KJV), Joshua 1:9

1 The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God.
They are corrupt,
they have done abominable works,
there is none that doeth good.
2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men,
to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside,
they are all together become filthy:
there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Rom. 3.10-12
4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?

5 There were they in great fear:

You're such a Narcissist

So facebook says i'm a sexy nerd.  ;)

I wish that i could meet myself in another person.  I have often felt that either i am super immature or rather overly mature.  Though that is a relative term.  So whatsywhosits won't especially be useful in relating personality.  I think that i started this blog to get out my personality and have people adulate it.  Now is that not almost entirely naricissistic?  I suppose the justifiers would say it is a cry from someone who has always been praised for his intelligence and now wants to be praised for his uniqueness.  Then others would say that it is in fact super duper narcissistic.  Then others will say, Oh i know, you are so interesting.  tell me more about life.  Then others will glance and be like Meh...  And still others will think wat a dumbass.  Some will say that i dont appreciate what i have.  Others will try to prove that they are better than me and some will actually adulate me.  Me, im gonna just keep going.  Stupid, i know.

The reason that we don't just straight up work our whole lives anymore is because we dont have to.  There is welfare, soup kitchens, and sympathetic people who want to feel like they have helped someone.  You can almost always find food in three days.  And water is easy enough.  Go to a store and ask for some water.  Go to walmart and ask for a water fountain.  go to a hospital.  everywhere has water.  The only thing you actually have to worry about is if you are not going to "just get by".  The people who worry about jobs are worried about money.  They are selfishly trying to accumulate it.  and thats not a bad thing because money usually means comfort.  but it is no longer essential.  (This is all relative to my location in  the US).

So what is necessary?  People tend to think that it is happiness.  You live to be happy.  You have to have someone with which to share that happiness too.  And god knows that you need a legacy; so you have to procreate, or at least adopt.  Then once you have food, family, friends, money; you look for a way to make it better--whether referring to your own situation or that of the world.  That's when you get into humanitarianism.

But the only part of that that i want is someone to talk to and a bit of comfort.  So, i will work for money, and i will look out for that unique soul that can challenge me and lead me to new levels of intrigue.  And that will be my life.  I will not make a big difference.  I can't unless i want a result that will ultimately be disappointing (not important enough to matter, to have taken up my life).  So Nerstes, maybe unlife is the answer.  Maybe ununlife is the answer.  Maybe it is actually life, and i have just over-considered it.  But in the general scheme of things, our lives will be almost gone within the next century.  Just a memory that will doubtless become less and less sincere as the generations progress until the only record of us is objective or from a source that does not have any bearing to us.  And finally, our life and legacy has no bearing.  Sure, you could develop a cure for cancer and people would adulate you, but the only reason people want a cure is to find some sort of hurdle-leap over the idea of mortality and to spend that extra time with people.

If you care about life, I'm sorry if i've offended.  But think about it, if this is all you have, then you have almost nothing.  And if there is something more, then this is just a big old joke of meaningless suffering. Ok maybe not suffering; some would call it living/being happy.

All life originates from selfishness.  We want companions.  We want to help.  We want to improve.  We want to live and let live.  We want to look like we are good.  We want to look like we are bad.  That's the trouble with emotion and decision.  We want to be happy.  We want others to be happy so we can see how it's done.  We want to do anything for others to assuage the idea that we have failed.  We want.  And we take.  And we hold.  And we do all these meaningless little things that are not going to matter.  The very idea of eternity begs an ending.  But there isn't one?

Feeling poetically full of it

Somebody once told me
how i was different.
I told them fa ha.
What do you know?
But then a storm came
and i realized
they were right all this time.

I would be a Jeremy Bentham if i were a philosopher.  However, i would base all my presumptions on the opposite of what he did.  He chose superficial thoughts and observations, and i would choose deep thoughts and observations.

Woot woot.  radda radda.  oh i see.  chowder.  church revivalish music.  staring at the screen l'ecran trying to think but feeling utterly empty and numb.  wondering why.  not knowing why.  asking why dont you know.  defensive idk.  realise one handed typing.  looking back at screen.  un petit poisson un petit poisson nage nage nage gloup gloup glouuuuup. laughing with french-class buddy.  think to reader, 'yess, i took french and latin duh'.  i've fb chatting with like ten girls for the past hour...  wow.  i think you need a nap.  I think you need a stfu.

Ok, I kind of did a little experiment.

The other day, I changed the name of the site to (By MaddyLee et Paucis ceteris).  Then, since I did not get many hits at all (like 5 or 6 per day) for the days following that, I changed the name back.  And voila!  The number for today rose to like 50!!

Of course, there could have been a few factors affecting that.  Most importantly, I commented on a blog that gets a lot of looks (And thereby gained a new follower!! Woot woot.  Go Billy.).  So either people are attracted to and familiar with the name, or else Billy and his people did a lot of pageviews...  Hmm, I'm thinking that it is the former.  (Or else there is some circumstance that I am unaware of.)

So anyway, either way, I got a few ideas.  I don't really want to keep the title because I'm in a go-with-the-flow mood and probably will continue to be in that mood for the next while.

Also, I was going to try to add another friend of mine (BB) as an author because he had a rant the other day about the way that all of our friends are so ridiculously wrapped up in Academia.  And I just kind of wanted to be in more steady contact with him.  But yeah...  He seems to be slightly terrible at looking at text messages; so I am probably going to have to tell him in real life--in which I would have to go out of my way to talk to him--which is a bother.  Oh humdrum.

This post is just totally random.  I am absolutely making it up as I go, and I would just like to exclaim that I love the Christmas season.  This is partly because I don't really have to buy people gifts and yet I get to bask in the fact that this season is full of candy and treats--at least where I live--as well as music.  I was listening to "I'll Be Home for Christmas" by the Rascal Flatts yesterday as well as "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer.  I really wish that the producers of the ELF Soundtrack had made the duet of Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrel into a full-length song.  But oh well; they didn't.  I also love the "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

I know it is odd to like the Christmas season if i do not like Christ or God or religion, but I just can't help it.  The snow is awesome [if we ever get any(though it did snow this morning slightly)].  The food is awesome.  The gifts are awesome.  The music is awesome.  I do like beauty in whatever form it may take. The family isn't that great.  Nor is the hypocrisy so very heartening.  But all around I love the season.

It's odd for me to be enthusiastic about stuff...

November 13, 2010

I play on a u19 soccer team (rec--not school or competitive), and we will have our last game of the season tomorrow.  In fact, it is the last game of a tournament that we are in at the moment.  We have already played and won two games.  If we win tomorrow, we will win the tournament.

We're a pretty good team.  Sometimes we bunch up too much and occasionally get selfish with the ball, but otherwise, we're pretty solid.  I play defender mostly (usually left full), but I could play any position (except mid-field; I can't run FOREVER).  I used to be a competitive soccer player when I was little, but I quit when I was about 10 or 11 because I wanted to focus on being a good gymnast (if I didn't tell you, I was a gymnast for 10 years--until I broke my back and just couldn't get back to a competitive level.).  Last year, I started playing again on a team whose constituents were almost all good friends of mine, and I have enjoyed it thoroughly ever since. So yeah, I just felt I should tell you that and get a little bit of info about my life onto the blog, rather than just my whining.

So anyway, hope for us that we win.  And have a good day, morning, evening, night, or twilight.
